About
Dr. Kim Butts
Meet Dr. Kim Butts, DNP, MSN-Ed, RN, PMH-BC, also known as Dr. Psych RN a psychiatric mental health nurse dedicated to advancing emotional wellness for Black women.
With decades of nursing experience, my work is grounded in the belief that emotional wellness should be intentional, culturally relevant, and sustainable. Too often, Black women are expected to be resilient without rest, strong without support, and successful without space to feel. My mission is to help shift that narrative.
My work blends psychiatric nursing expertise, education, and deep respect for lived experience while supporting women in building emotional capacity, managing change with intention, and navigating life’s transitions with greater self-trust and clarity.
In addition to clinical practice, I serve as a professor and contribute to the advancement of nursing through scholarly review and professional leadership. My work is rooted in excellence, integrity, and care that honors the whole person.
Outside of this work, I enjoy history, music, travel, and meaningful time with friends and family, where these spaces keep me grounded and well. As a Black woman, I am deeply committed to breaking mental health stigma, honoring our cultural realities, and creating spaces where emotional wellness feels accessible, affirming, and real.
Sisterhood is my foundation. Emotional wellness is the work. And you don’t have to carry it alone.💖✨
